Bermudagrass, Common

COMMON BERMUDAGRASS - Common Bermudagrass is a low cost option for fast cover and durability. Once established bermudagrass is drought tolerant and spreads by stolons and rhizomes to fill in gaps. Common Bermuda is a non-native grass regularly used for lawns, pastures, pond embankments, and road side ditches. It requires 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day to do well and typically does best in lawns when mowed about 2 inches in height. Planting rate for turf is 2 pounds per 1000 sq ft; for pasture it is 5 pounds per acre. Typically the higher the seeding rate the faster the grass will provide cover. Bermudagrass thrives on fertilizer. After your lawn is established you should apply fertilizer to Bermuda two to three times during the growing season. We recommend that you do not apply fertilizer onto your seed until after the second mowing.
