Sunflower, Maximilian
Maximilian Sunflower is a native perennial forb that is most often used in rangeland mixes with other forbs and perennial grasses. Although it does produce seeds that are eaten by many species of wildlife it is the vegetation of the Maximilian Sunflowers that is primarily browsed by wildlife and livestock. It can also be used as part of a perennial wildlife food plot in situations or areas where annual planting is not desirable. Planting rate is 2 PLS pounds per acre when planted alone (which is rare) or planted at a reduced rate when part of a mix. Typically planted in spring or late summer plantings.
