Sunflower, Awnless Bush
Awnless Bush Sunflower is a native perennial forb that is most often used in rangeland mixes with other forbs and perennial grasses. Once established bush sunflower has a stout taproot that makes the plant drought hardy. It is primarily browsed by wildlife and livestock but also produces seed eaten by birds. It can also be used as part of a perennial wildlife food plot in situations or areas where annual planting is not desirable. Planting rate is 3 PLS pounds per acre if planted alone or planted at a reduced rate when part of a mix. Typically planted in spring or late summer plantings.
