Wilman Lovegrass is a warm-season perennial bunchgrass introduced from South Africa. Wilman has been evaluated on a wide variety of soil types in Central and South Texas and appears to have survived cold winters with temperatures of -5° F. Although Wilman is of the same genus, it bears little resemblance to the well known varieties of Lovegrass. Prior to seed-head emergence, it looks much like Kleingrass (P. coloratum), to which it favorably compares in drought tolerant quality. Spring growth begins later than Kleingrass, yet reaches 2-4 feet growth quickly.
