Haskell Sideoats Grama

Haskell Sideoats grama is a native, warm season perennial bunchgrass that grows 1-3’ at maturity. It is a widely adapted native grass selection that performs well throughout the state. Sideoats grama is excellent livestock forage, and provides good nesting cover for quail.  It is strongly rhizomatous, and spreads both by seed and vegetatively.  Common uses include for range and wildlife habitat restoration, erosion control, and for energy and transportation right-of-way revegetation.

Developed by the USDA NRCS Knox City Plant Materials Center, Haskell is a mainstay of native grass seed mixes for much of Texas.  It performs well in most regions and reliably emerges.  It was originally collected near Haskell, Texas.
