Giant Bermudagrass

Giant Bermudagrass

Bermudagrass is one of the most popular turf grasses in the United States for problem soils and high-traffic areas. It is relatively drought and weed tolerant and can withstand higher levels of foot traffic than some other grasses. The variety of giant bermudagrass we have is called NK 37 Giant Bermudagrass.

Introduced from Africa, NK-37 is a selected strain of common Bermudagrass increased by Northrup, King & Co., in Arizona. A warm-season, perennial giant Bermudagrass, 1 1/2-2 feet tall, fine-stemmed with long slender leaves, it spreads from seed, rhizomes and stolons, and has a slight tendency to form a sod. Known for its fast, vigorous, tall growth and rapid recovery after cutting or pasturing during warm summer months. Because of its quick recovery after frequent cutting, it has repeatedly cut more pounds of green weight per acre than other grasses. Relished by livestock and wildlife.
