Short Description: Cool season, perennial legume that is grown in almost every state in the U.S. Very cold tolerant and has the highest feeding value of all hay crops. Alfalfa is consumed by both turkey and deer. It is a reoccurring annual that should be planted in cooler months, usually between September and December, depending on location.

Description

Alfalfa is a warm season, perennial legume that is grown in almost every state in the U.S. It is well adapted to a variety of sites when grown under cultivation for hay or as a forage crop.  It is typically grown with irrigation in the western two thirds of Texas. Alfalfa is consumed by both turkey and deer, and it is excellent forage for livestock.

Alfalfa should be planted between September and December in Texas, depending on the planting location.

Planting Rate/Ac: 10-15 lbs
