Short Description: Cibolo Little Barley is a native, cool season annual grass that grows less than a foot in height at maturity. Common throughout the state on disturbed sites, it has value for use as a native cool season cover or nurse crop. Forage value of Little Barley for livestock or wildlife is poor, which can make it a good option for temporary winter cover when pasture deferral for small reclamation sites is impractical, or where attracting wildlife is not desired, such as along roadsides or energy right-of-ways.

Cibolo Little Barley is a native, cool season annual grass that grows less than a foot in height at maturity.

Cibolo was developed for release by the Texas Native Seeds Program and the USDA NRCS Texas Plant Materials Center, primarily for use as a small stature, cool season cover crop for erosion control, roadside stabilization, and for reclamation needs associated with energy production.  It is easy to establish, and provide dense, low growing winter cover of denuded soils.  Douglass King Seed Company is a licensed producer of the release.
