Texoka Buffalograss is one of the few truly native Texas turfgrasses, and perhaps the only native sod grass. It’s contributions to native history include feeding massive, roaming herds of bison and providing sod for settler dwelling. It’s soft blue color, dense establishment, and hearty drought tolerance make it an ideal turf grass choice for much of the state, including South Texas. Care should be taken to provide enough water until the plant is established and can develop drought tolerance. Sod-forming native grass popular for use as turf due to its drought tolerance and ability to suppress weeds. This grass is readily used in both native pasture and lawn plantings.
