Short Description: The La Salle Arizona Cottontop is a blend of 12 South Texas collections. The seed head measures 2 to 5 inches and bears a number of fluffy white seeds. It is a multi-use plant suitable to native habitat restoration. It simultaneously provides grazing for livestock and cover/food for native wildlife. Active germination is excellent compared to other grasses, making it an excellent choice for planting after disturbance such as brush control. La Salle will readily reseed itself, and individual plants are long lived. Excellent for native rangeland restoration providing cover and food for wildlife. Good livestock forage. Description

La Salle Arizona Cottontop is a native, warm season perennial bunchgrass that grows 3-5’ in height at maturity. It is well adapted to a variety of soils in the Rio Grande Plain, Gulf Coast Prairies and Marshes, Edwards Plateau, and Trans Pecos. Arizona Cottontop is good forage for livestock and it provides good seed production and cover for wildlife. It is an excellent choice for native rangeland restoration, wildlife habitat improvement, erosion control, and right-of-way seeding.

La Salle Arizona Cottontop is a blend of 12 South and Central Texas collections released by the Texas Native Seeds Program and the USDA NRCS Kingsville Plant Materials Center. Speed of germination is excellent compared to other native grasses, making it an excellent choice for planting after disturbances such as brush control or where erosion control is needed. La Salle will readily reseed itself, and individual plants are long lived.
