A native warm-season perennial bunchgrass, Lometa Indiangrass provides forage for livestock, food and cover for wildlife, and helps prevent erosion. A robust, vigorous plant, 3-8 feet tall, with coarse leaves blue to pea-green colored and panicles 8-12 inches long, bronze to yellow colored. Flowers in late September and October and spreads by seed and rhizomes. Cold and drought tolerant; a very palatable grass. Lometa Indiangrass is better adapted to most of Texas where rainfall is 25″ annually. Provides good forage for wildlife and livestock and cover for deer, small mammals, and birds.
