Description

Virginia Wildrye is a native, cool season perennial bunchgrass which grows 3-5’ at maturity. Virginia Wildrye can be found throughout the United States except for Nevada, California, and Oregon. Its ability to produce cool season forage, shade tolerance, and value as cover and feed for deer, livestock, and birds makes a good addition to range and reclamation seed mixes in many areas.

Virginia Wildrye is most commonly found in the Eastern and Coastal regions of Texas, but it does grow in bottomland and riparian areas throughout the state. It is one of the few cool season native grass options for use in the state.
